Having survived the mushroom men this week our group was back up to near full strength with the Warden rejoining us. It turned out to be a good thing, but at the same time this week’s fight ended up significantly easier simply because the Druid has good eyes. Of course the Rogue and Warlord were [...] I went into Ridley Scott’s new Robin Hood expecting a modern rehashing of the classic legend. What I received was definitely a modern retelling, but it was more of a prequel to the legend we all know and love. In fact it’s not until the last ten minutes of the movie that Robin actually becomes [...] This week we were down our Warden and the new found Sorcerer. Which meant we were down the defender and a striker. A serious drop in defense and damage potential that even with the way the DM scaled the fight was not the way one wants to walk into a battle. Our cast “Lyndy” the Rogue Iron Man was an incredible movie. It wasn’t just a great comic book movie, it was a great movie period. Great acting, great special effects, and a well written story. Of course Hollywood being what it is it had to have a sequel, and since Marvel is gearing up for an Avengers movie in a [...] This evening we were joined by another player who is still learning this new edition. The group was fully rested an ready to go. And having survived the undead attack so easily were thought we were ready for anything. Never, ever, tell your DM your ready for anything. Our cast “Lyndy” the Rogue I’m a big comic fan, for those who hadn’t yet guessed based on my preference of movies and or my reviews. And thanks to the wonderful world wide web (does anyone actually call it that anymore?) everyone with a net connection has access to thousands and thousands of free comics. So just for the hell [...] Where did the space heroes go to die? Thus is the tag line to Warren Ellis’s Ignition City; a five issue miniseries paying homage to the sci-fi serials of the forties and fifties. Of course it does so with Ellis’s signature skew on things. It’s a tale full ray guns, jetpacks, and even an evil [...] We went in to this fight with a great deal of trepidation. The Warlord was at six hitpoints with no healing surges left, the Rogue was at full but also sans surges, and then there was the Druid, the Warden, and me. At that’s before the undead showed up. Our cast “Lyndy” the Rogue Kick-Ass is not your typical comic book movie. As is typical of Mark Millar’s work is part parody, part homage, and as always features an amped up hyper realistic approach to the superhero fantasy. I haven’t read the comic upon which its based just yet but it’s easy to see his fingerprint in the film [...] |
